It may be a simple and perfectly rational observation, but it still counts as Tempting Fate. An Unwitting Instigator of Doom can be basically complicit with the villain, but in that case, they’re generally seeing only a small portion of the picture. If they’re being specifically manipulated but do not realize, they’re an Unwitting Pawn. Other times, they’re simply blundering in like a wrench in some particularly highly valued machine , so it can be caused by The Load or The Millstone. They may also end up as the Idiot Houdini. In other cases, more Genre Savvy or simply in the know characters will chew them out for bumbling in and screwing things up, trusting them little better than they would a traitor. Also compare Chekhov’s Gunman , in which a seemingly insignificant character becomes more important later on.

I went to GP and the unfriendly nurse tested me and said “you are not pregnant! You can imagine how I felt, as it is my first and I have been waiting for it for so long! So I went and took the test from her and showed her that there is a faint line! She accepted me as pregnant! When I asked her what does it mean that my lines are so faint; she waived her hand and said ” a line is a line! So that reassured me. However, I am testing every morning and my lines stay almost invisible! Does it mean that the hcg amount in my urine is not high enough?
What does that mean? I am a bit worried too PJen Tue Mar If your test is faintly positive and then a few days later turns completely negative, you may have had a very early miscarriage.

I am about 5 and a half weeks pregnant and today received a letter from my midwife giving me the date for my ‘booking appointment’. Will I receive a separate appointment for the dating scan soon too, or will i have to book it with her? By the time I have my booking appointment, I will be 10 weeks and it’ll be just a handful of working days before Xmas.
I’m concerned that i will not get a scan appointment until the new year. What are your experiences folks? I’m in NWKent btw.

They said that’s the best time to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler. I’m excited about it and it’s hard to wait so long when my friends who are due around the same time have already had ultrasounds. But, I am trying to just be calm and have faith that they know what they are doing! No scan for me until 12 weeks. I’m worried but going on the assumption that everything is fine and unless I have problems then I wait until 12 weeks. It’s hard to wait though!!
At least, unless the whole chain of events was just another part of the plan.

First trimester ultrasound is performed in the first months of a pregnancy. Pregnancy ultrasounds are performed mainly using transabdominal ultrasound. For many women, especially after 8 weeks gestation, sufficient information about the baby may be obtained with transabdominal ultrasound only. However, in the early pregnancy, the developing embryo is very small at 6 weeks gestation, the baby is only mm long and a transvaginal ultrasound may be required to get a better image of the baby.
Transvaginal ultrasound is safe and commonly performed during all stages of pregnancy, including the first trimester. It will not harm you or your baby. Transabdominal ultrasound involves scanning through your lower abdomen. A small amount of ultrasound gel is put on the skin of the lower abdomen, with the ultrasound probe then scanning through this gel.
The gel helps improve contact between the probe and your skin. Transvaginal ultrasound is an internal ultrasound. It involves scanning with the ultrasound probe lying in the vagina. Transvaginal ultrasound usually produces better and clearer images of the female pelvic organs including the developing pregnancy, because the ultrasound probe lies closer to these structures. The transvaginal ultrasound probe is thin, about 2cm diameter. The probe is covered with a disposable protective sheath.

I came back for a rescan after my little boy would only show half his face last time, They really do their best to get you the best photo’s from your experience, I have never met such friendly people, from being greeted at reception to leaving every single member of staff there were friendly and very welcoming and great with my little brothers!
My little boy’s 4 months old now and I’m always showing him his photos a few are displayed in my home and people always ask where I got them done, definitely worth the money and the experience and will continue to recommend to everyone! I’ve got to say it was one of the best experiences ever, seeing my little baby in 4d was surreal. The staff were lovely and very thorough throughout the scan, explaining different angles and parts of my baby. Will definitely be booking another 4d scan when I’m further on, very excited for it already.

Do I need a referral? Who can I bring to my pregnancy ultrasound? Pregnancy is an exciting time for couples, families and friends. We understand that your ultrasound is an opportunity to bond with your growing baby. You may wish to bring your partner or other support person to share in this special time. Young children, especially very young children, do not usually find ultrasounds entertaining or exciting.
They may even become distressed by being in a dark room with strangers examining their mother. If you must bring young children, you should bring another adult if possible so that if your child becomes upset or distracting, there is someone to look after them and take them outside if needed.
