One view suggests this toponym might be an example of a tribal name used by resettling groups on their return from exile. The Letters are not in their normal New Testament Order, but in the date order generally agreed by most scholars. All Church members except the apostles were scattered over the countryside of Judea and Samaria . While reverent men buried Stephen and mourned deeply over him, Saul later the apostle Paul harassed the Church bitterly. Those who were dispersed by this action went throughout the country, preaching the good news of the message as they went. Philip the “deacon” and Evangelist , for instance, went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to the people there.
Philip continues preaching in Samaria; the Apostles Peter and John join him there before returning to Jerusalem; Philip is then directed to another task

The significance of the Feast unfolds when we come to understand the deeper truths it reveals. It teaches us about Jesus, Mary, and Joseph- and about each one of us and our own families. Through our Baptism, we are invited to live our lives in Christ by living them in the Church – which is the Risen Body of Christ. The Church is the place where we learn, as the Apostle Paul reminded the Colossian Christians, to “put on love, that is, the bond of perfection”.

Thus Mary and Joseph, both descendants of King David, found themselves in the small hamlet of Nazareth although their family roots ran through Bethlehem of Judah. And of course there was a well providing water. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.
The couple likely walked southeast from Nazareth, crossing the Jordan River near the site of the current northern border crossing with the country of Jordan. They would have trekked south through Perea, not far from the river, crossed back over near Jericho where there still remains a border crossing , ascended to Jerusalem then gone south to Bethlehem. There are two reasons to assume this route.
First, the area east of the river contained more springs and, consequently, more villages — critical considerations when travelling with an expectant mother. Interestingly, that remains that situation today. The Jordanian side of the border is populated with dozens of villages while the western side is relatively bare. Secondly, both the Galilee and Perea had the same governor, offering additional security for the Galilean couple.
Further, the alternative route, while certainly days shorter, was a southern trip through Samaria which most devout Jews avoided. Upon arrival in Bethlehem it is likely Mary and Joseph turned to the family patriarch for lodging. This is of course inconsistent with the traditional understanding of the couple being turned away by the wicked innkeeper, a story founded on an inaccurate translation of a Greek word.
From Bethlehem to Egypt to Nazareth, Jesus’s family accepted changes around them
The religious basis of calendars around the world: There are many religious calendars in existence, but each is normally in use in one region of the world — typically by followers of a single religion. Almost all of the world’s religious calendars are based on religion, astrology, or myth:
This theory is lent credence by close comparisons of Jesus’ sayings in the Gnostic Gospel of St Thomas, which are seen by some as closely paralleling classical Buddhist Sutras.
The Historical Books of the New Testament Introduction As previously mentioned, the New Testament falls into three categories based on their literary makeup—the historical, the epistolary, and the prophetical. The four Gospels make up about 46 percent and the book of Acts raises this to 60 percent. This means 60 percent of the New Testament is directly historical tracing the roots and historical development of Christianity. Christianity is based on historical facts.
This is inherent in the very nature of the gospel. Christianity is the message of the gospel and what is a gospel? It is good news, information derived from the witness of others. It is history, the testimony of historical facts. What that something is is told us in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It is the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was seen by them over a forty-day period and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God. Luke is volume one and Acts is volume two of Dr.
This becomes crucial to our understanding of much of what we have in the epistles, which were historical letters written to living people in historical places.

Share The town of Galilee where the Blessed Virgin dwelt when the Archangel announced to her the Incarnation of the Word, and where Christ lived until the age of thirty years, unknown, and obedient to Mary and Joseph. In the manuscripts of the New Testament, the name occurs in a great orthographical variety, such as Nazaret , Nazareth , Nazara , Nazarat , and the like.
In the time of Eusebius and St. Jerome Onomasticon , its name was Nazara in modern Arabic, en Nasirah , which therefore, seems to be the correct name; in the New Testament we find its derivatives written Nazarenos , or Nazoraios , but never Nazaretaios. The etymology of Nazara is neser, which means “a shoot”. The Vulgate renders this word by flos , “flower”, in the Prophecy of Isaias xi, 1 , which is applied to the Saviour.
Nazareth is situated in the most southerly hills of the Lebanon range, just before it drops abruptly down to the plain of Esdraelon. The town lies in a hollow plateau about feet above the level of the Mediterranean, between hills which rise to an altitude of feet. The ancient Nazareth occupied the triangular hillock that extends from the mountain on the north, having its point turned to the south. Its northwestern boundary is marked by numerous Jewish tombs which have been discovered on the slope of Jebel es Likh.
The southeastern limit is the small valley that descends from the beautiful spring called St. Mary’s Well, which was, no doubt, the chief attraction for the first settlers. In the last fifty years the population has increased rapidly, and amounts at the present day to more than souls.
